Name: Larkpaw
Rank: Medicine Cat Apprentice (?)
Gender: She-cat
Age: 9 Moons
Affiliation: CloudClan
Mentor: Whitewhisker
Kin: BlackStripe, Father (Deceased); Rabbitnose, Mother (Unimportant/Open); SootStripe, Brother (Open....I might play him...)
Mate: Forbidden
Appearance:
Larkpaw's fur is very soft, just like her mothers, and somewhat long. Her cheek fur makes her look a little like a fox. She has tiny tuffs of fur on her ear tips, and a somewhat fluffy chest. Her body fur is long, and even. The tail is very fluffy, the tip the fluffiest part. Lucky for her, her pelt does not tangle easily. She does enjoy grooming it quite often, although there is no need.
Her main fur colour is a light, milk chocolate brown. She is a tabby, therefore she has stripes upon her body. The most visible stripes are on her face and legs. On her face she has black stripes coming down her forehead in the middle, and stop about an inch above her eyes. The other stripes are upon her cheeks and go toward the center of her feline face, they are black as well. On her long legs, wavy, tiger-like, black stripes run horizontally. She also has white on her pelt, her muzzle is white and runs as a wide white line down her throat, to her chest, fills up the gap between her two front legs, and to her stomach. Also, a small white splotch covers the tip of her tail. Colourings like a Lark, Brown, black, and white.
Black whiskers are above her eyes, and on her muzzle. Her muzzle is a bit long, and narrow, giving her more of the foxish appearance. Her eyes are shaped of almonds, and are tilted slightly upward, as most cats eyes are, and they are a little darker brown than her pelt. Her front paws are small, and her hind paws look like rabbit feet. Her tail is long, and it helps give her balance.
Larkpaw is built tall and lean, but somewhat strong. Her legs are built for speed, and it is speed she has. Her body isn't the best for fighting, but Larkpaw is determined she can master battle training. Her neck is thin and a bit longer than the average Clan cat's. Her thin body makes her a master at hunting.
Personality:
This little she-cat likes to hunt and race her friends, but also takes being a warrior/medicine cat in training seriously. She loves the taste of Juicy Mice, but is not too fond of eating birds. Their small bones give her trouble, and frustrate her. Yes, she can get frustrated easily, but hides it, as she wants to be a caring Medicine cat. She dislikes to hear loud kitten's wails, and hates it when it takes a long time for someone to do something about it. She also doesn't like hearing the Elders complain, but who does? She is picky about food, and hates being ignored. Once ignored, she'll wait a while, and then attempt speaking again, unless it is urgent and cannot wait.
Larkpaw isn't really the social kind. Her kit hood made her timid, and scared. She walks on her toes, and isn't very good at starting a conversation. She prefers someone to come up to her and start talking. She does enjoy communicating, though, just never too good at it. She enjoys it when she gets along with her mentor, and when she receives praises from others around her for doing good.
She is good at helping around camp, and is very skillful at hunting. Her battle skills could use some work, but she tries her best. She does have a great memory, but not much of common sense. She beats her self up mentally when she does wrong, or messes up, and usually thinks about it until she does something good. Her weakness is cats in need of her help. If she had a choice between becoming Clan Leader or Saving a kit from greencough, she'd do anything she could to save the cat. She'd rather have another cat in the clan to make it Stronger than have all the responsibilities to becoming leader.
History:
Lark-kit
As a kit, Lark-kit was unusually quiet. Her parents didn't give her much attention, and her other siblings died almost right after they were born, they didn't even receive names. Rabbitfoot went to name them and found Lark-kit the only one alive. Some how, her parents blamed her for the deaths of their beloved offspring. They didn't treat her terrible, just never really paid attention to her. She wasn't like the other kits, and didn't like play fighting. When she was allowed outside the nursery, she often wandered to the Medicine cat's den to watch them help others, and put herbs in stock. She knew four herbs, their scents and what they did by the time her kit hood was over. When she wasn't allowed by the Medicine cat's den, she would watch leaves fall and attempt to catch them, watch ants scurry across the ground, crickets hopping in and out of bushes, and birds fly over head. She often looked to the stars when night fell over them like a navy blue-black blanket, and wondered how their ancestors were doing, and what they were talking about.
Yes, she had a brother, but he was from the litter before her, and was also the survivor from 2 kits. Her parents seemed to favor him, but it didn't really bug Lark-kit. Her brother cared for her, and was the most parent-like figure she had in her life. She looked up to him, she watched him walk out for border patrols, battle training, and hunting sessions. When he came back with a proud look in his shining blue eyes, she knew that he had come back from battle training. He was highly skilled at that, Lark-kit once thought he was the best in the world, but she was just a kit, and kits always exaggerate.
She became even more quiet when her father died falling from a tree. He broke 3 out of 4 legs, fractured some rib bones, and was bleeding eternally. It was very hard on her, even though she wasn't very close to her dad. It hurt her to see him in so much pain, and she wished she could have saved him. That made her want become Medicine Cat apprentice even more, to never loose another cat, not like they lost her father. She grew even closer to Sootpaw after their father took his last breath and was sent to StarClan, and soon after, Sootpaw was made a warrior, and requested to be Sootstripe, in honour of his father's bravery and loyalty.
Larkpaw
Becoming Medicine Cat Apprentice was a great joy to Larkpaw, she loved helping cats in need and getting closer in friendship to her mentor. She still was a bit insecure, but felt a lot better sharing with her mentor, and learning more about herbs. The greatest feelings to her was when she got compliments from Elders, or cats she was helping to heal. She also loved going outside of camp and looking at the beautiful surroundings and searching for herbs needed. She did enjoy bird watching, but usually was too busy for that. Larkpaw was excited about more days to come as a medicine cat apprentice, and never wanted it to be over.
Roleplay Example:
She could hear it's fast heart beat, and it's soft paw steps upon the flooring. Her body was positioned in the warrior's crouch, her weight balanced equally on all four paws. Her claws slowly unsheathed, and her pupil grew large with amusement. Her tail didn't touch the floor, she didn't want the sound of it hitting the tall grass to scare off her prey that was totally unaware of her presence. Larkpaw was a skilled hunter, and loved hunting for her clan. Her eyes went back, and her haunches shook, preparing to leap. Her muscles rippled and she sprang, her shadow right over the plump, grey, mouse, and it's small head turned to see paws heading right for it. It managed to run into the grass, but Larkpaw was right on it's tail. She raised a paw and hit the mouse into the air. Its tiny limbs flailed helplessly in the sky, but it's life came to an end as the apprentice caught it in her jaws and killed it.
Satisfied with her catch, she raced back to the spots where she buried her other catches, another mouse and a few voles. She carried her catches in her mouth and decided it was time to head back to camp. On her way she watched fish swim in the pond, and birds search for food. She felt as if she was needed, and raced back to camp. She went through the entrance and dropped off her kills in the fresh-kill pile, except the last mouse she caught, which she brought to the Elders. Even if she was Medicine Cat apprentice, she still had regular apprentice duties, and one was making sure the Elders were fed.
She walked back to the Medicine Cat's den and didn't find her mentor there. So she padded to where they kept herbs in stock. "Hmm..." she said to herself, looking through the organized line,"Goldenrod poultice, we need more goldenrod poultice." She stalked out of the shadows of the den and headed toward the entrance. On her search for the herb needed, she strained to remember what it did. "Used for soothing cats in distress?.....No....." She became angry for forgetting. Come on, Larkpaw! I know this! Thought the frustrated she-cat. When she came across the green plant with yellow flowers, she remembered what it was used for. "Ah! Yes, Rub it on aching joints!" She felt proud and snapped at the plant, then bounded away toward camp, her fluffy tail high in the air.
The sun was just beginning to set as the apprentice made it back to the camp. The scents of her clan mates filled the air, and Larkpaw could sense the leader outside sharing tongues with Sootstripe. Those two did have a good relationship, Sootstripe was great at making friends. Quickly, she darted through the entrance and neatly put the goldenrod poultice where it was supposed to go, then ran back out, nearly running over her mentor.
"Sorry!" She called back to the confused Medicine Cat. She reached outside, and sat down next to the entrance, watching the colourful works of nature. Orangey-gold to Pinkish Purples and lighter Blues to darker Navys. The brown tabby loved watching the sunset and watching the bright stars arrive in Silverpelt up above. One of her favourite games was to try spotting the first visible star. She saw it, the dull orb above her, and she rapped her tail neatly around her paws. Once the show was over, and the sky resembled a navy canopy, with holes punched in it, Larkpaw decided it was time to go and see what she could do for her clan.
