Appearance:
Firepaw is a average size, light ginger tom. His body was built more for speed than fighting, as it is rather thin and long in most places. But he uses his speed to his advantage in battle. His legs are long and thin, just like his tail, but Firepaw has large paws to hold him up. His ears stick out at sharp angles and like his paws, are larger than they should be on such a thin cat. His hips jut out when he sits or crouches, making one wonder if he eats enough.
His head is small and very angular, set at a triangle shape pointing downward. His muzzle is covered in thin, small scars that fur never grew over from an accident when he was just a kit. Many short, white whiskers spring out from his muzzle at odd angles, fanning around his nose in an almost circular pattern. His tail is long and thin, almost always curled around his paws. Firepaw has dark amber eyes with thin pupils.
Firepaw’s base coat is a light ginger which covers his whole body. An even lighter, almost white, ginger covers certain parts, mostly on his stomach and muzzle. Over the base ginger are yellow stripes that are most prominent on his face and stomach. And over the yellow stripes are many thin, dark ginger stripes that cover his entire body and make up the majority of his stripes, including the thick tabby M on his forehead.
Personality:
Firepaw comes off as a stand-out, show-offy type of cat. He’s very proud of his physical appearance and with that pride comes narcissistic tendencies. He can often be caught making quips about how he doesn’t want to do something because it could mess with his fur or cause him to snap a claw. Most of his free time is spent grooming himself near the apprentice den, occasionally chatting with the other apprentices.
Despite how he mostly cares for himself, Firepaw is a generally friendly tom. He enjoys spending time with others, especially with his mentor or other apprentices. While he may not feel any particular attachments to the cats he surrounds himself with, Firepaw still likes being with others.
Everyone’s a critic-- or at least Firepaw is. He finds it fun to watch cats go about their business and point out flaws in their work. He’s just messing with the cats most of the time but he can get out of hand, outright insulting a cat because they did something ”So completely and horribly wrong it made me want to jump off a cliff.”
His manner of speech is quite formal for a young cat. Big words make him seem smarter (at least that’s what he thinks), so he’s quick to whip out that little thesaurus he’s got running around his brain. Especially when describing others.
Firepaw is definitely not a team player. Sure, he likes hanging around other cats. And he likes talking with other cats. But when it comes to getting work done? Well Firepaw has to do it himself. If you want something done right, do it yourself; that’s what he lives by. He’s reluctant to go out on patrols with other cats because he feels they will get in the way of his hunting or tracking or whatever he’s suppose to be doing. If he must go on a patrol, Firepaw is quick to volunteer for the early morning or late night ones, when fewer cats are likely to volunteer.
History:
It was a stormy night that brought Firepaw and his sister, Foxpaw, into the world. Their parents, Gingerfur and Brightclaw were worried at first. The storm could have caused their kits to become sick. And at such an early age the kits might not have made it. Luckily neither of the two ginger kits got sick; they lived fairly regular lives as kits of CloudClan.
Sometime before Firekit and Foxkit hit five moons Foxkit had a brilliant idea. The tribe had just come down from the mountains and Foxkit was sure they would have no idea how to support themselves on the new territory. With Firekit following reluctantly the two made their way to the new border, sitting there and waiting for a patrol to come by so they could help. After all, they were respectful kits of CloudClan.
But a patrol never came by. As the sun set Firekit finally convinced his sister to go back to camp, the clan was probably having a fit over their disappearance by now. Sticking close to each other, the two kits traveled back to camp. But in the dark they couldn’t see the steep drop that led into a patch of thorn bushes. Foxkit managed to keep her footing and stay on the ledge of the drop, but Firekit couldn’t and fell into the bushes.
Most of the cuts healed up quickly for Firekit, the medicine cat taking care of him after the two were dragged back by a warrior. But a few still scar along his muzzle much to his annoyance.
Firekit ignored his sister from then on, not wanting her to get him in any more trouble. He had every mind to become an apprentice and one day a warrior for his clan-- he’d never let his sister ruin whatever chance he had. It was only by luck their leader didn’t decide to make the kits wait even longer before becoming apprentices.
